Turkey has returned artillery fire at Syria for a fifth day, after mortar landed in the Turkish border town of Akcakale. The mortar shell came from a Syrian truck in the area. The Turkish military immediately responded to the fire. No casualties have been reported. It's the latest move in the already tense relationship between the neighboring countries.

"The Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) of New Mexico is considering an amendment to its child care assistance policy to exempt victims of "forcible rape" from having to file child support claims against the absent parent. Under current policy, anyone who applies and qualifies for child care assistance from the state of New Mexico is required to file a child support claim against any absent parent. The newly proposed amendment exempts a woman from contacting the other parent if her child "was conceived as a result of incest or forcible rape." The recent outbreak of violent anti-American protests in the Muslim world will make US politicians think twice before supporting Islamic radicals, political analyst and ex-jihadist Tawfik Hamid said in an interview with RT.

The US has funded Islamists groups throughout the world for decades, and the death of the American ambassador to Libya is just one more example of how militants backed by radical Islamic ideology will eventually turn their weapons against their patrons in Washington.
In this light, Hamid believes that the idea of toppling Syria's President Bashar Assad and replacing him with rebels known to have connections to Al-Qaeda should no longer seem like such a winning idea to the West..

The number of dead over an amateur film deriding Islam is now more than 50 - one week since protests began. The latest victims were a dozen people in Kabul - killed instantly when an Afghan suicide bomber rammed a car full of explosives into their minibus. And joining the fray - is Thailand - where rank upon rank of riot police formed a perimeter outside the US embassy.
