Despite the US's declared withdrawal of its military personnel and contractors out of Iraq, Washington has prepared to control the country's rich oil reserves in any case, shared Ranjit Singh Kalha, former India's ambassador to Iraq in the 1990s. Having spent $3 trillion in Iraq, a country with harsh weather conditions (+50 C most of the time) and absolutely nothing valuable but oil reserves, the Americans simply cannot give up the plentiful and very high quality oil they went there for. "It takes $1.50 to take out this oil that's just below the surface. Anybody who has access to this oil can be a game changer -- as far as the politics of oil is concerned," Ranjit Singh Kalha concluded. The problem Americans encountered in Iraq is that once given "some symbols" of democracy, the Iraqi voted for a Shia-led government. The headache is that the Shia traditionally have close links with Iran, the core territory of this affiliation. "That is the present dilemma. If you withdraw from Iraq completely, you leave this vast oil wealth of Iraq in the hands of Shia (Iran-oriented) government. And therefore it upsets the political balance in the Middle East," Ranjit Singh Kalha explained. He said that to counter such adverse developments the US will have almost 20,000-strong embassy in Baghdad (the largest US embassy in the world) and consulates in Basra, Kerkuk and in northern Kurd-inhabited territory, each consulate 1,000-strong. "Americans cannot afford to be completely absent from Iraq," the former ambassador argued, adding he does not see any lessening of American influence in Iraq. Iraq is a multi-confessional country and to curb religious extremism all previous country's rulers had to be very tough with the population, the diplomat stressed. In Saddam's Iraq most of the military and law enforcement was Sunni and the rule of law was first of all a rule of military power preventing sectarian violence. Today's Iraq is ruled by Shia government which does not have the necessary experience of ruling with an iron fist, so the country risks a full fledged civil war to start at any time given. American troops will not go far from Iraq -- they will be re-deployed to next door Kuwait.Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Anonymous - Message to the American People
Uploaded by anonymous04210 on Dec 3, 2011
Dear brothers and sisters. Now is the time to open your eyes!In a stunning move that has civil libertarians stuttering with disbelief, the U.S. Senate has just passed a bill that effectively ends the Bill of Rights in America.
The National Defense Authorization Act is being called the most traitorous act ever witnessed in the Senate, and the language of the bill is cleverly designed to make you think it doesn't apply to Americans, but toward the end of the bill, it essentially says it can apply to Americans "if we want it to.
Bill Summary & Status, 112th Congress (2011 -- 2012) | S.1867 | Latest Title: National Defense Authorization Act for.
This bill, passed late last night in a 93-7 vote, declares the entire USA to be a "battleground" upon which U.S. military forces can operate with impunity, overriding Posse Comitatus and granting the military the unchecked power to arrest, detain, interrogate and even assassinate U.S. citizens with impunity.
Even WIRED magazine was outraged at this bill, reporting:
Senate Wants the Military to Lock You Up Without Trial
...the detention mandate to use indefinite military detention in terrorism cases isn't limited to foreigners. It's confusing, because two different sections of the bill seem to contradict each other, but in the judgment of the University of Texas' Robert Chesney — a nonpartisan authority on military detention — "U.S. citizens are included in the grant of detention authority."
The passage of this law is nothing less than an outright declaration of WAR against the American People by the military-connected power elite. If this is signed into law, it will shred the remaining tenants of the Bill of Rights and unleash upon America a total military dictatorship, complete with secret arrests, secret prisons, unlawful interrogations, indefinite detainment without ever being charged with a crime, the torture of Americans and even the "legitimate assassination" of U.S. citizens right here on American soil!
If you have not yet woken up to the reality of the police state we've been warning you about, I hope you realize we are fast running out of time. Once this becomes law, you have no rights whatsoever in America. — no due process, no First Amendment speech rights, no right to remain silent, nothing.
The US senate does not want us to speak. I suspect even now orders are being shouted into telephones and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?
Cruelty and injustice...intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance, coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable. But again, truth be told...if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War. Terror. Disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you and in your panic, you turned to the now President in command Barack Obama. He promised you order. He promised you peace. And all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.
More than four hundred years ago, a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness. Justice, and freedom are more than words - they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you, then I would suggest that you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek...then I ask you to stand beside one another, one year from November 5th, 2011, outside the gates of every court house of every city DEMANDING our rights!!
Together we stand against the injustice of our own Government.

US Stealth Drone missing over Iran Afghanistan Border
Uploaded by TopGunMilitary on Dec 5, 2011
The Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel is one of the most advanced stealth airplanes in the United States Military. It was a secret drone until the end of 2009. The Iranians just claimed today they have killed one. But have they?
NATO says that their operators lost control of a drone last week over western Afghanistan.
Iran military officials claim the plane was downed on their East border and has little damage. They say it was not shot down by jet fighters or ground defenses, but using some kind of electronic interference.
The informed source said on Sunday that Iran Army's electronic warfare unit successfully targeted the American built RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft after it crossed into Iranian airspace over the border with neighboring Afghanistan.
The Iranians have claimed US drone kills many times, although they have never produced much proof of their claims. This is the first time they claim an Sentinel kill, which is very significant. The RQ-170 is a stealth drone and, in theory, the Iranians wouldn't have the technology to detect it.
They haven't shown any picture of the downed RQ-170 Sentinel. If they really killed it, I would imagine that they would like to brag about it with videos and pictures. The United States haven't confirmed any killed drone, but you would expect that in their continuous media war.
Given the ridiculous media record of the Iranian military and the Sentinel's technology, my hunch is that they are lying again.

OCCUPY LONDON. THE BANK OF IDEAS REVOLUTION

Occupy London today opened up its new third space and first building the Bank of Ideas calling it 'a public repossession' and transformed the huge abandoned offices of investment bank UBS into a space for political discussion and debate.
At the opening on Sun Street, Hackney -- one of London's most deprived boroughs, occupiers aged 2 to 62 cut a red ribbon and launched confetti -- made out of copies of the Financial Times -- to cheers and applause.
Tina Rothery, a grandmother from Blackpool who has been staying at the Occupy London Stock Exchange camp at St Paul's commented: "This is a space where everyone is welcome, a place where you can be part of making a real democracy. This is where it starts."
Zigi, mother of two said: "I came with my children -- we're going to set up a kid's space so they can play and be engaged and I can go to a workshop. This whole movement is about the future generation."
As part of the new Bank of Ideas, offices and meeting rooms will be available for those that have lost their nurseries, community centres and youth clubs due to Government spending cuts. Details of upcoming Bank of Ideas'events at http://www.bankofideas.org.uk/events/.
Guests and speakers were also welcomed including Alberto Durando, Secretary of the Cleaners Branch of the IWW union who spoke about issues facing cleaners working in the City of London, such as minimum wage and unfair working conditions and called for the Occupy movement and workers to stand together.
Trader Allessio Rastani, who earlier this year sent shockwaves through the media and public by stating that "Goldman Sachs rules the world" during his provocative BBC interview on the Eurozone crisis; addressed occupiers and took questions in one of many time-tabled talks.

What was initially planned as a peaceful "Occupy Rome" protest turned into a violent demonstration in the Italian capital. Police reportedly used tear gas and water cannons to disperse crowds of angry Italians. Protesters wearing masks and helmets threw rocks, bottles and other objects at police in riot gear. Some wielded clubs, while others were armed with hammers. The demonstration against the government's economic policy, with a crowd estimated at 200,000, descended into violent chaos when groups of angry protesters set cars on fire, smashed windows and attacked shops. Protesters also attacked the Defense Ministry and set a wing of the building on fire. At least one person was injured and taken to a hospital, the Al Jazeera television network reported. The protests in the Italian capital were modeled on the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstration against capitalism and austerity measures, which went global Saturday with dozens of marches and protests worldwide. The website for the international movement said 951 cities in 87 countries were ready to "Unite for Global Change" -- the official slogan of the rally. Sizable protests were held in Spain, the UK and New York.

To be racist in the past meant one held certain groups of people to be racially inferior. Today, racism often refers to situations in which "racialized" individuals feel for one reason or another uncomfortable in contact with the "white" majority. Is this a progress towards a more nuanced understanding of the nature of prejudice, or part and parcel of a new politics of diversity?

In my experience of having had these sorts of clients before, they are normally quite normal but they are quite twisted in their minds, and this person in addition is total evil."
Yet, to the dismay of many, a 1,467-page document containing gruesome details of the terrorist act soon revealed that Breivik belonged to a group he helped form known as the 'Knights Templar Europe' when he met eight other extremists in London in 2002 in order to "seize political and military control of western European countries and implement a cultural conservative political agenda."
In the manifesto titled 2083: A European Declaration of Independence, Breivik reveals his links to the neo-Nazi EDL, "I used to have more than 600 EDL members as Facebook friends and have spoken with tens of EDL members and leaders. In fact; I was one of the individuals who supplied them with processed ideological material (including rhetorical strategies) in the very beginning."
Less than 90 minutes before he began his terrorist attack, Breivik sent his hate-fraught 'manifesto' to 5,700 contacts including 250 in the UK. According to Tanguy Veys, Belgian MP for the rightwing anti-Muslim party Vlaams Belang, - and one of those who received the document - most of those on the email list were UK-based.
In an interview with Press TV, Chris Bambury, editor and former member of the Central Committee of the British Socialist Workers Party stated, "There is clearly a growing connection to far right fascist groups. Breivik himself had contact with 500 members of the English Defense League, a violent anti-Islamic organization in Britain - shows the length of his connections. He himself said he was introduced into far right politics through connections in Britain. It's a regular occurrence now that people are becoming fascist and racists and that anti-Islamic people are found with weapons and explosives. It seems to be that the police and security forces are passing this up precisely because they are fixated on Islam, so-called Islamic terrorism as part of the war on terror and therefore they're ignoring what is a growing tide of what is anti-Islamic politics across Western Europe."
Multiculturalism has come under critical attack for several months now. In October 2010, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said, "The approach [to build] a multicultural [society] and to live side-by-side and to enjoy each other... has failed, utterly failed."
It was in fact the first direct attack on multiculturalism and indirect attack on Muslims on the part of a European leader. Her remarks were later reflected by other European leaders including Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
In a similar strain, Silvio Berlusconi said, "We don't want Italy to become a multiethnic, multicultural country. We are proud of our traditions."
His remarks were well received by the Italian Northern League, a right-wing anti-immigrant party. Antagonism to multiculturalism gained momentum and mingled with anti-Islamic sentiments. Emboldened by Berlusconi's remarks, Roberto Calderoli, a Northern League leader, wore a T-shirt on state TV decorated with caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
Expressing the same idiotic notions, British Prime Minister David Cameron strongly criticized 'state multiculturalism' in his maiden speech. At a security conference in Munich, he stated the UK needed a stronger national identity in order to prevent people from turning to all kinds of extremism.
His speech was in fact an invitation to mistreatment of Muslims in the UK.
"Frankly, we need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and much more active, muscular liberalism," he said.
Western culture seems to be plunging into an abyss of ignorance; rather, it is being drawn into blind ignorance by its own leaders.

Legal, but not moral: 'UK govt millionaires have no right to dictate to people'
British union leader Mark Serwotka says public sector workers, who are going on a nationwide strike on June 30, will not allow the cabinet to go on with the planned cuts of budget spending. Serwotka is general secretary of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS), the trade union for British civil servants with some 300,000 members, which is one of the four unions participating in the strike. He said the government had better listen to them now, or the number of protesters will increase by a significant order of magnitude in a matter of months. "We'll have three quarters of a million people from four different unions on strike, which hasn't happened in this country for decades. It's the start, not the finish. Our message to the government is: if they try to ignore, we'll come back in the autumn and we may well see millions of people on strike. The idea is to build pressure so that the government realizes that working people are the length and breadth of the UK and will not just let them get away with what they're doing," he told RT. The measures the UK government is considering will be a disaster, he says. "The cuts are the biggest most people will have seen in their lifetime. They are projected to mean half a million jobs lost in the public sector, 600,000 jobs lost in the private sector as a direct result, changes in the delivery of welfare, cuts in funding of education for the young people, and also attacks on people's pensions," he predicted. What the cabinet does have to cut in order to address the budget deficit are tax exceptions for the rich and military spending, Serwotka believes.
"I think there isn't any political consistency. Quite clearly we've been told that we're so strapped for cash that everything we hold dear has to be slashed. And yet we can still talk about renewing the Trident [nuclear missile] and fighting wars overseas irrespective of the cost. My own view is that the war in Afghanistan and the current war in Libya are wrong. They are misjudged; they are not about what people claim they are about. And we should actually find a way out of those pretty quickly, not make the situation in those countries worse as well as at the same time take valuable resources that could go into schools and hospitals," he said.
